Two times world supersport champion and veteran world superbike and MotoGP rider Andrew Pitt and BSB team Motorpoint Yamaha have parted ways after a shock announcement that Pitt has been replaced by another rider.

Recovering from surgery to a badly broken collarbone sustained five weeks ago, Pitt was scheduled to take part in a shakedown test on the Motorpoint YZF-R1 to gauge how his injuries are healing up. However, the team management informed the Australian dual world champion that his services would no longer be required for the balance of the BSB season.

Andrew Pitt, “I’m obviously disappointed by decision of the team, however, more so by the way the situation was handled. I’ve had my neck on the line and injured myself working hard to find a more competitive set up for the machine and we were making good progress with the Yamaha.

“I wish the team all the best for the remainder of the season and I will now be focusing on fitness and on 2011”. To follow Andrew’s progress or email him fan mail visit his website www.andrewpitt.com
